I recently read The Let Them and Let Me Book by Mel Robbins—and it was exactly what I didn’t know I needed. It’s short, direct, and packed with powerful reminders about boundaries, self-worth, and letting go of what you can’t control.
The “Let Them” Rule
The idea is simple:If someone wants to leave, criticize, not show up, or behave in ways you can’t control... let them.
It sounds harsh at first. But it’s actually freeing.
Instead of constantly reacting or trying to change other people’s actions, Mel reminds us to release the grip. To stop internalizing behavior that isn’t ours to carry. To trust that what’s meant for you will stay, grow, or return, and what isn’t will fall away.
The “Let Me” Rule
This part hit harder. It’s the side of the equation we do control.
Let me try.Let me speak up.Let me say no.Let me grow.Let me rest.Let me be.
It’s about reclaiming space for yourself—not in a selfish way, but in a conscious, empowered one.
My Takeaway
We waste so much energy worrying about how others see us, what they’re doing, what they’re not doing. This book gave me permission to step back—and focus on what I can do: show up fully as myself.
So now, I try to pause before reacting and ask:
Is this mine to fix?
Or can I just let them?
And then... let me?
Short book. Big shift.
I highly recommend this for everyone.
